Dr. Surendra K. Kaushik was presented with the prestigious Making A Difference Award of the non-profit foundation Children's Hope India, Inc. at its annual gala fundraiser in New York City. The award was in recognition of the opportunities Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women's College is giving to rural women in Rajasthan by giving them greatly subsidized higher education through the efforts of Dr. Kaushik and the Helena Kaushik Education Foundation. The award was sponsored by HSBC Private Bank and presented to Dr. Kaushik by His Excellency Ambassador Prabhu Dayal, the Consul General of India in New York. The gala event, An Evening in Rajasthan, was attended by some 600 people at Grand Hyatt at Grand Cental.
Children's Hope India also announced donation of four scholarships to the College.
Earlier in the week there was a Press Conference by the Board of Children's Hope India at the Consul General of India on October 9 attended by fellow honorees of the Lotus Award, Mr. A.J. and Mrs. Poonam Khubani and Special Guest of Honor Pricess Padamja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur. Other Lotus Award honorees were Mr. &. Mrs. Ravi and Virginia Akhoury.

The New York State Assembly honors Dr. Surendra K. Kaushik and Mrs. Helena Kaushik by presentation of Legislative Resolution 369 passed on April 6, 2009 on the 10th Anniversary of the Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women's College in Malsisar, District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, India. The resolution was presented by Hon. Sandy Galef in the well of the Assembly chambers. Assemblywoman Sandy Galef was a commencement speaker at the College in 2006 during her first visit to India. She also participated in a Seminar on Gender Violence and Women's Protection at the College. The seminar was co-sponsored by the National Commission for Women (NCW) and it was was chaired by Dr. Girija Vyas, Chairperson of NCW. Research papers were presented by prominent academics and officials.

Dr. Surendra Kaushik made a presentation about the foundation and the college to the Ethical Culture Society of Westchester in White Plains, NY 10603. He addressed Sunday school students of the Society in the beginning of the program and showed slides of the photo exhibition of Village Life in Rajasthan by the Graduates of the Class of 2006 of the Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women’s College (www.helenakaushik.org). The slide show was followed by presentation of a video of the college and a video of his interview by Hon. Sandy Galef on the Dear Sandy program on Cablevision on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 and aired four times in October and November. The program was attended by 25 to 30 people.
